Paul Walker’s brother knows there’s a way to bring Brian O’Conner back for Fast Forever. He just doesn’t think he should be the one helping make it happen.

Cody Walker, who previously helped stand in for his late brother during the making of Furious 7, addressed the possibility of Brian appearing in the final Fast & Furious movie and acknowledged that AI could make a return possible.

“AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that,” Cody Walker told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s years of footage that was never used from these other ‘Fast’ films. They’re the best in the business, they can figure that out.”

That doesn’t mean Cody is interested in stepping back into the role himself. If Brian does return in Fast Forever, Cody says he would rather leave that decision to Paul’s daughter, Meadow.

“My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father,” Walker said. “I would not be interested in doing that again. I love the way his character exited the franchise. They didn’t kill him off, they didn’t do something cheesy like that. It’s beautiful, [Brian] is off raising his kids. But if they want to do that, if Meadow would like to see that, they don’t need me or Caleb.”

Cody and his brother Caleb previously stepped in for Paul after the actor died in a 2013 car crash while Furious 7 was in production. Their likenesses, along with visual effects and previously filmed footage, helped the movie give Brian a proper farewell rather than killing the character off.

At the time, the brothers weren’t ruling out the possibility of doing something similar again. In 2018, Caleb told Entertainment Weekly that he hoped they might someday find a way to bring Paul back for a small appearance, while Cody stressed that any such return would have to be handled carefully.

“I just hope we get to have a little cameo and bring Paul back to save the day and I get to help create that again,” Caleb had told Entertainment Weekly at the time, with Cody adding, “I think there could potentially be a way to do it. But it would take a lot of thought and it’d have to be tasteful.”

Cody’s feelings have clearly shifted since then. And that could make things a little awkward heading into Fast Forever, considering Vin Diesel has been pretty adamant that Brian should be part of the finale.

When Diesel spoke with Vanity Fair in 2025, he said he had agreed to the final Fast & Furious movie under three conditions: bringing the franchise back to Los Angeles, returning to its street-racing roots and reuniting Dom Toretto with Brian O’Conner.

“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast & Furious [in] April 2027?’” Diesel said at the time. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.’ The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner. That is what you’re going to get in the finale.”

So, will Brian actually show up? At this point, Cody says he doesn’t know any more than the rest of us.

“I have no idea what to expect there,” Cody said. “I talked to Vin, and when it comes to this whole process, he gets very ethereal; it’s a lot of weight. The guy is incredible, he’s extremely gifted, he takes this very seriously and there’s a mountain on Vin’s shoulders. He wants this to be the best one and as good as it can be because it’s the final [one].”

For now, Fast Forever remains on track for a March 17, 2028 theatrical release. Whether that final ride includes one more appearance from Brian O’Conner — AI-assisted or otherwise — remains one of the movie’s biggest unanswered questions.
