Catherine Zeta-Jones vehemently defended her kids against being labeled as nepo babies as they pursue their own acting careers.

“This horrific phrase ‘nepo baby’ is horrible because these kids didn’t ask to be born into this. They’re finding their own way in life,” she told the Sunday Times.

She went on to argue that “it’s hard for them to forge a way forward on their own” because they have famous parents, but noted that her kids are “plugging away.”

The actress shares son Dylan, 26, and daughter Carys, 23, with husband Michael Douglas, and they are both following in their parents’ famous footsteps.

The “Chicago” actress gushed that her two children “love” acting and are good at it.

“Otherwise Michael and I would be the first to go, ‘You know what? Maybe law school looks really good,’” she quipped.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas each have their own impressive careers for their kids to look up to.

The 56-year-old’s role in “Chicago” (2003) earned her an Oscar and a BAFTA award. She also won a Tony Award in 2010 for her role in Broadway’s “A Little Night Music.”

As for Douglas, he has been critically acclaimed for his roles in front of and behind the camera. He was the first person to win Oscars for both producing and acting, for two different films.

The 81-year-old won the Oscar for Best Picture as the producer of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1976). He also won Best Actor at the 1988 Academy Awards for his role in “Wall Street.”

Michael, however, is a nepo baby himself as he is the son of late Oscar winner Kirk Douglas.

The famous couple has brought their kids to red carpets over the years, and Carys has worn many of her mom’s iconic looks.

Since graduating from Brown University, both Carys and Dylan have starred in film projects.

Carys starred opposite Victoria Pedretti in the short, coming-of-age film “F—k That Guy” (2024). She made her professional stage debut playing the lead role of Nina in Anton Chekhov’s play at St. Lydia’s in Brooklyn earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Dylan is working on the upcoming film “Killing Hitler,” a thriller that follows Jewish mobsters attempting to assassinate Hitler in 1933.
