Walmart, Target and Amazon announce massive dueling deals events ahead of the holidays

Shoppers will have plenty of options for some steep savings next month.

Amazon, Target and Walmart are fighting for deal dominance after announcing sales events starting in October. Amazon and Target customers are both starting their promos Oct. 6 to Oct. 7, while Walmart will begin a day earlier, on Oct. 5.

Starting at 12 a.m., Walmart shoppers will have a full week to score discounts across multiple sectors as the sales event goes from Oct. 5 to Oct. 11. Customers will see 50% off home, up to 40% off fashion and tech, and up to 30% off toys — just as shoppers gear up for holiday shopping.

Target is also dropping its annual Circle Deal Days event, open to members of its free loyalty program. However, customers with a Target Circle 360 membership will get early access — a full day before.

The shopping event will have 40% off thousands of items across apparel, home decor, kitchen gadgets, beauty, toys and more. Circle 360 members — the paid tier — can start shopping on Oct. 5, while non-360 members will be able to grab deals from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7.

Becoming a Circle member is free and can be done online or in the app. Plus, the retail giant is handing out loyalty deals for a limited time.

Guests who join Target Circle from Sept. 27 to Oct. 5 will receive 15% off their first purchase. Shoppers who apply for a Target Circle Card between Sept. 27 and Oct. 10 and are approved will receive $75 in Target Circle Rewards.

The retailer is offering $50 in Target Circle Rewards to those who enroll in an annual Target Circle 360 membership between Sept. 27 and Oct. 10.

Amazon is handing out major discounts with the rollout of its Prime Big Deal Days. Similar to Target, the two-day event is from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7 with a strict 12:01 a.m. start time — PDT.

All Prime Members are able to score the deals — with free delivery — with big discounts on fall apparel and shoes at up to 45% off. The e-commerce king said cozy bedding, blankets, and holiday décor will be up to 35% off, while game day hosting and tailgating gear will be slashed by up to 30% off.

Just in time for the spooky season, Halloween costumes and accessories will start at just $5.
