A couple and their 11-year-old daughter were found dead inside their $1 million San Diego home Wednesday morning after a concerned neighbor reported hearing “loud bangs” the night before.

San Diego police were called to the home on Boulder Lake Avenue in the Lake Murray neighborhood shortly before 8:20 a.m. after the neighbor noticed the girl had not left for school, according to 10 News.

The neighbor—who had been given a key to the home to pet sit for the family—went inside after becoming concerned and made the grisly discovery.

The husband and wife were found dead inside a bedroom, while their 11-year-old daughter was discovered dead in a separate room, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The neighbor told authorities she had heard “loud bangs” coming from the home the previous night. A firearm was involved in the deaths, police confirmed to CBS 8.

Investigators are looking into the deaths as a possible murder-suicide, though police have not released details about who may have fired the weapon or the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.

Authorities said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
The identities of the three family members have not yet been released.
