Five months after a 2025-26 season that had so much promise and ended in so much disappointment, the Islanders will hit the ice for training camp hoping to wash the taste out of their mouths. 

It was a quiet offseason for Mathieu Darche, who bet on injury returnees, internal development and the impact of coach Pete DeBoer — hired with four games left last season — in the short term as opposed to any major acquisitions. 

Despite the quiet offseason, the Islanders enter Thursday with a lot to figure out over the 13-day sprint to opening night.
