Truck plows into 2 teens riding bike in NYC, killing one of them: cops

Two teens riding on the same bike were struck by a truck in Manhattan Friday night — killing one and leaving the other hospitalized, cops said.

The teens, aged 15 and 13, were heading along East 14th Street when they were hit by the vehicle – an excavation truck – as it turned north onto First Avenue at about 9 p.m.

Both girls were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where the 15-year-old was pronounced dead, police said.

The younger girl was listed in stable condition.

Bystanders were “screaming at the truck, ‘stop, stop, stop’” but the driver apparently couldn’t hear them, according to a witness.

The witness, who declined to give his name, said the aftermath of the collision was “dramatic” after he ran over to help.

“Two bystanders were trying to pull the girl on the right side out from under the wheeI. Then the cops came and told them to stop because they could cause her more damage,” he said.

“The girl was bleeding. The blood was leaking towards the other side of the vehicle,” the witness said, adding he “saw the fire department come, doing CPR on the girl. Then the cops told everyone to walk away.”

An electric CitiBike appeared to be pinned beneath the truck’s tire.

“I feel sad and sorry for the little girl and her family to see her pass away in this tragic way,” the witness said.

“It should bring more awareness to look more. This could be prevented a hundred times,” he sighed. “We have to be more aware.”

The truck driver remained at the scene and appeared visibly distraught.
