I tried the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide recovery shoes while training for a marathon— here’s my honest review
My marathoner feet were tired and achy all summer long, and I’ll be honest: my favorite fuzzy slippers just weren’t cutting it anymore.
I needed a solution that massaged, cushioned and relieved pain, all in one. Enter the brand-new Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide.
I’ve trusted Nike over the years for their running sneakers and athletic shorts, but recovery shoes? I wasn’t sure. I purchased a pair for myself to see what all the hype surrounding the Nike x Hyperice massage slides was about — see below for my honest review.
Pros:
- Heat and vibration soothe muscle tension
- Plush Air Zoom cushioning
- Perfect for athletes and those who suffer from arthritis
- Can be worn indoors and on the go
Cons:
- Short battery life
- Pricey
So how does it work? The Nike Air Zoom Hyperslides come with a magnetic pod located inside a Velcro flap that delivers heat and a vibration massage along the top of the foot. The goal is to relieve tension and calm screaming muscles.
They combine Nike’s signature Air Zoom cushioning with recovery leader Hyperice’s heat-and-vibration technology (I have the brand’s compression boots…I’m a fan).
Sizes: Men’s 4-18, women’s 5-19 I Colors: 2 I Features: Heat, compression, Air Zoom cushioning
There are three levels of heat (109°F, 113°F, 117°F) and three vibration settings to choose from, which can be controlled via buttons on the pod or through the Hyperice app.
When I slipped on the shoe, it literally felt as though I was walking on clouds. I joked as I strutted around my living room that my feet were so supported that it was like someone was physically holding them in place. I’ve been suffering from runner’s knee over the past few months, and these shoes allowed me to go about my business without the area getting further inflamed.
I didn’t feel like taking the extra step in downloading the app because the button control was easy enough. All I had to do was lean over and with a few quick taps, my feet were in a cocoon of cozy heat and vibration.

The day the slides arrived, I did not want to take them off. I wore them around the house, to the mail room, to the grocery store and to lunch across the street from my apartment.
Amid my busy schedule, it’s hard to find time to use compression boots or foam roll the bottoms of my feet at home for recovery. These slides are a great solution for the on-the-go athlete who wants to ensure their body is at its best without sacrificing their chaotic calendar.
The main issue I found with the Hyperslides is the battery life. I found myself constantly needing to charge the magnetic pods. The brand says that the battery lasts up to one hour on maximum heat and vibration settings, and up to eight hours when using vibration only. I almost always run both settings at once, so I was forced to plug the pods in after approximately three to four auto-timed 15-minute sessions.
The good news is that the recovery slides are super comfortable even without the heat and vibration, so I still reaped the benefits while the pods were charging.
This marks the second collaboration between Nike and Hyperice, as they previously released the Hyperboot. The shoe — which dropped in May 2025 — combines heat and compression to loosen the muscles and speed up recovery to help optimize performance.
The boots feature three heat levels (111°F, 118°F, 125°F) and three Normatec compression levels (50 mm, 130 mm, 210 mm).
Are the Hyperslides worth it?
I’ve never seen anything like the Hyperslides before. Even though they run on the pricier side, for athletes like me craving muscular relief, I believe they’re well worth the investment. I can also see the latest style being a game-changer for those who suffer from arthritis or tendonitis.
Like every new innovation, there’s always room for improvement, but the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide is nothing short of a high-tech hero in the fitness recovery space.
How I tested
- Fit and support: Are they comfortable and secure enough to walk around in? Is there enough arch support?
- Cushioning: How soft and comfortable do they feel underfoot?
- Recovery: Do they make my feet feel less sore after a long run?
- Vibration/heat: How well do the core features work? Are they soothing as the brand promises?
- Battery life: How often do I need to charge the magnetic pods?
- Ease of use: Are they easy to slip on and off?
- Stability: Do my feet feel stable while walking?
- Price: Are the shoes expensive? Is the value worth the price?
