Cam Schlittler will take the mound Saturday in Arizona against the Diamondbacks as he looks to put the finishing touches on a Cy Young-caliber 2026 campaign. 

The Yankees’ star has been nearly unhittable all season, but he has been even more dominant of late, keeping hitters at bay as he builds momentum heading into October. 

Batters are hitting just .185 against Schlittler this season, which is second-best in the American League, but he’s holding them to an even more ridiculous rate over the past month-plus.

Schlittler has allowed just 21 hits over 45 innings over his last seven starts, helping him post a sparkling 1.00 ERA over that stretch and all but locking up the Cy Young award in the junior circuit, while also vaulting him into the MVP conversation (14-6, 1.95 ERA, 215 strikeouts). 

In his last start, he allowed just one hit over six innings against a Mets lineup that has shown some life lately. 

Over two starts before that outing, Schlittler allowed just five total hits over 15 innings against the Angels and Rockies. 

The D-backs provide a tougher task than his recent opponents, having been an above-average offensive team all season, but Schlittler will at least have the advantage of unfamiliarity.

Only one batter on Arizona’s roster has ever faced Schlittler in a big league game – Jesus Sanchez, who just joined the Diamondbacks this week and may not even see the field Saturday. 

That should only make things more difficult for the snakes against one of baseball’s toughest pitchers to square up right now.
