Another week, another San Francisco 49ers wide receiver carted to the locker room.

DeMarcus Robinson didn’t make it to halftime of the Niners’ Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The veteran receiver injured his ankle in the second quarter and was inspected by the team’s medical staff in the blue tent before being loaded onto the injury cart and driven into the tunnel.

Robinson, 31, hauled in a pass from Brock Purdy in the red zone and had a path to the end zone, but he fell to the turf at the 4-yard line. When he got up, he limped to the sideline, favoring his left leg.

Robinson was the 49ers’ leading receiver, with 34 yards on three catches, when he left the game.

The 49ers did not provide an official status update for Robinson but confirmed that he hurt his ankle.

San Francisco was already thin at receiver, having already lost Ricky Pearsall to season-ending PCL surgery during training camp and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling to an ankle injury in Week 1.

Stribling underwent surgery this week and is expected to miss about 10 weeks.

Now without Robinson, too, San Francisco gave Jacob Cowing his first snaps of the season.
