Ted Lasso Season 4 is officially in full swing!

The Apple TV original series has been a fan favorite since its debut in 2020. The series, which is written, produced by, and starring Jason Sudeikis, follows Ted Lasso, an American football coach who is recruited to coach a British soccer team. Initially, the team’s new ownere, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), is hoping that Lasso’s inexperience will run the team into the ground, but to everyone’s surprise Lasso’s optimistic leadership turns out be successful. It even changes Rebecca for the better!

Since its debut, Ted Lasso has received immense critical acclaim, including 13 Emmy awards. Although Season 3 was intended to be the end of the series, Ted Lasso returned for Season 4. The new season sees Rebecca luring Ted back to Richmond to coach the club’s brand new professional women’s team.

Sports comedies are certainly all the rage at the moment, and while fans wait for a new episode of Ted Lasso to drop, they may be wondering what other shows they should watch.

1. If you haven’t heard yet, hockey shows are having a moment. However, unlike the other romance-centered shows, which we love, Shoresy is a raunchy, laugh out loud comedy. The series follows the Sudbury Bulldogs, a last ranked team in the Triple A-level Northern Ontario Senior Hockey Organization (NOSHO). When they are up against a total shut down, veteran hockey player Shoresy (Jared Keeso) makes a bet with the general manager that the team will never lose again if he is given a chance to take control. The show is absolutely hilarious and at times a bit ridiculous and explicit, but it’s a great watch.

2. The Netflix original series, Glow, was probably ahead of its time. Set in 1985, the show follows struggling actresses who audition for and form an all-female professional wrestling league. It’s a show within a show, inspired by the variety show Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (G.L.O.W.). Alison Brie stars as Ruth Wilder, whose strained relationship with the lead of G.L.O.W., her former best friend and retired soap opera star Debbie (Betty Gilpin), may make or break the production. The series did garner some praise from the pro wrestling community, so despite its cancellation it is still worth the watch.

3. Mindy Kaling has done it again! Running Point, starring Kate Hudson, is all about breaking into male dominated spaces. In the series, Hudson plays Isla Gordon, a reformed party girl who is unexpectedly thrown into the role of president of her family’s pro basketball team after her brother is forced to step down. The show is obviously hilarious, as most Mindy Kaling shows are, but also tackles topics like dysfunctional families and male dominated fields. Plus, Kate Hudson and Brenda Song as a power duo? Yes, please.

4. Everyone loves an underdog! After a catastrophic career ending mistake, college quarterback Russ Holiday (Glen Powell) uses prosthetics to walk on to a struggling team in an attempt to make a comeback. Chad Powers was developed from a skit by retired pro quarterback Eli Manning where he went undercover as a walk on at Penn State. Season 2 just came out, so if you want to catch up now is your chance.

5. The Hawk is a new edition to the sports comedy genre, but has already made a name for itself. The series follows 2004’s top golfer, Lonnie Hawkins (Will Ferrell), as he struggles to recapture the magic he once had. He refuses to believe that he can’t make a comeback despite being so late in his career. Not only will he have to face his enemies from the past, but also his current biggest rival, his son Lance Hawkins (Jimmy Tatro).
