Another longtime Los Angeles restaurant is checking out.

Messhall Kitchen, the popular Los Feliz neighborhood hangout housed inside a storied former Brown Derby building, announced it will permanently close Oct. 17 after 14 years in business.

“Thank you to our team, past & present, for giving this place its heart,” the restaurant announced on Instagram. “To Los Feliz, our regulars, neighbors, & everyone who has shared a meal, a drink, a celebration, or a memory with us over the years.”

The restaurant did not give a reason for the sudden shuttering, instead inviting regulars to “raise a glass” during its final month.

“What a pleasure it’s been,” Messhall captioned the emotional farewell.

The news triggered an outpouring of grief from locals and regulars past and present, who mourned the loss of yet another neighborhood watering hole.

“This breaks my heart,” wrote one customer in the comments. “Messhall has been the cornerstone of the Los Feliz food and beverage scene for longer than I can remember.”

“An end of an absolute era,” another patron echoed. “What a place, filled with the best people.”

Known for its camp-lodge decor, patio fire pits, craft cocktails, and $1 oyster Tuesday’s, Messhall served as a gathering space for East siders.

“This place was definitely our home away from home,” another commented on Instagram. “So many friendships were built here. So many creative projects were developed here.”

Even before Messhall made its closure public, word had begun to circulate online and whispers of trouble behind the scenes had already begun spilling onto social media a few days ago.

In a thread titled “RIP Messhall” on the popular Reddit forum r/FoodLosAngeles, one diner claimed staff quietly warned guests that the end was near.

“According to our waitress at Mess Hall in Los Feliz, they will be closing no later than the end of the month…Apparently the owner got in over his head taking out loans trying to keep the place afloat,” the Redditor alleged.

While online commenters debated whether the spot had slipped into a “steady decline” in recent years due to creeping prices, the overwhelming sentiment was grief for the neighborhood’s changing identity. “This bums me out and I’m bracing for what takes over,” one Reddit user lamented. “Everything new that comes to the neighborhood lately seems to be pretentious and expensive.”

Owners have not publicly address financial rumors, and Messhall did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
