At least two people were killed and several were injured after a violent seven-vehicle collision in Oxnard Friday that sent mangled car wreckage scattered across the highway.

The crash was reported at about 4 p.m. near Victoria and Doris avenues, according to authorities.

Emergency crews arriving at the scene found seven victims, with two declared dead at the scene.

The five survivors had varying injuries. Four were transported to hospitals, including one person listed with serious injuries, two with moderate injuries and another with minor injuries.

The remaining victim was treated by emergency personnel at the scene and released.

Video of the aftermath showed damaged vehicles scattered along the crash site and a heavily burned section of debris marking the front end of the wreck.

The footage also appeared to show two vehicles underneath or near light poles that had fallen during the collision.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash.

The Oxnard Police Department is handling the investigation.
