I picked edge rusher Colin Simmons as a long-shot Heisman candidate in the preseason, and he looked the part in Saturday’s win at Tennessee with five sacks. Let’s just work on toning down the post-sack celebrations, Colin. 

2. Ohio State (3-1) (3) 

Give me one game to watch every week, and I’m picking Ohio State every time, just to see what all-everything receiver Jeremiah Smith does next. 

3. Notre Dame (4-0) (4) 

Two more patsies, North Carolina and Stanford, before Notre Dame faces a real opponent: BYU on Oct. 17 in Provo, Utah. 

4. Georgia (4-0) (5) 

A fifth straight blowout is on tap for the Bulldogs as Vanderbilt comes to Athens, Ga. next Saturday, ahead of the megashowdown at Alabama Oct. 10.
