Madonna’s causing a commotion.

The singer took the stage multiple times at Sunday’s MTV VMAs 2026 — and her chaotic antics sparked rampant social media chatter.

While accepting the award for best dance with Troye Sivan and Charli XCX, the Queen of Pop confessed she was “unclear” as to what “the award [was] for.”

Charli, 34, explained that the honor was for the “Confessions II” film.

The “Boom Clap” hitmaker was standing at Madonna’s side during the speech as the actress had demanded she and Sivan stop “standing so far away” and “get over here” since there is “safety in numbers.”

“I feel good surrounded by people who like to dance,” Madonna said before thanking filmmakers David Toro and Solomon Chase for their work on the projeft.

The “Like a Virgin” singer, notably, began the acceptance speech by ditching her leather jacket and pretending to get “this thing out of [her] ass” that had “been in [t]here all night” — a joke she clarified later on.

“You guys didn’t get my joke, did you, about the laser up my ass? Did you?” Madonna asked audience members. “It was up here all night and then I took it out. Anyway.”

The performer concluded by gushing over her love of dance, saying, “Dance brings everybody together. We are all equal on the dance floor.”

Social media users praised Madonna, the most awarded artist of the evening, for not knowing what the particular honor was for — and cringed at her calling out Sabrina Carpenter while accepting another for best collaboration.

When the duo took the stage together, “impatient” Madonna explained how their “Bring Your Love” song came about,” saying, “When five days passed and I still didn’t get connected with Sabrina and didn’t hear back from her about whether she wanted to do a song with me — five days! — I DM’ed her.”

Carpenter, 27, laughed off the joke but later insisted, “My team is s–tting themselves backstage. My team replies! Just so everybody knows, they do respond to people!”

“I respond faster,” she acknowledged. “So direct line to me is always the best way to get in contact.”

One X user wrote “ouch” of the viral moment, with another tweeting that Carpenter looked “shocked by the audacity.”

Others claimed the “Espresso” singer appeared to cut Madonna’s speech short as the pop icon “kept saying random s–t.”

The “Girl Meets World” alum put an end to the remarks by grabbing the mic and saying simply, “Madonna!”

Reps for Madonna and Carpenter did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The pair, who walked offstage hand-in-hand, kicked off the show by performing their hit song, with Charli XCX also joining Madonna for a “Danceteria” number. This marked Madonna’s first MTV VMAs performance in more than two decades.

Sunday’s show was hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
