LeBron James drops stunning admission on leaving Lakers from 76ers media day
LeBron James wants to win one more NBA championship.
The Philadelphia 76ers held its annual media day Monday with James sporting the blue uniform while addressing the media. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer made his intentions with the 76ers clear.
“In order for us to be great, we have to do things that are just not comfortable. We have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That is the best way to expedite being great. You have to fall in love with doing things that are uncomfortable.
“If we can do that, then we can be a great team. If we don’t do that, then we’ll be like oh man it was a great team on paper and we had a lot of great talent. And we lost in the second round. I don’t wanna do that.
“I didn’t leave my family to lose in the second round,” James said.
James put all NBA teams on alert when he informed the Lakers he would not return for the 2026-27 season. The 41-year-old immediately became the top free agent of the summer and narrowed his choices down to five teams.
Rumors swirled of what James was looking for in what would likely be the final destination of his career. According to his agent Rich Paul, James was searching for complete basketball happiness in the twilight of his career.
Once James signed a two-year, $8 million deal with Philadelphia, it was confirmed money was never a requirement.
And based on the four-time NBA champion’s remark at media day, it turns out complete basketball happiness for James includes winning one more ring.
