Tyler Wade, the former Los Angeles Angels utilityman who famously dated Alix Earle, has retired from MLB.

The 31-year-old announced the career move in an emotional post on X on Monday afternoon, writing, “it’s time to move on.”

“Thank you, baseball,” Wade said. “You gave me more than I could have ever dreamed of.”

Wade was picked by the New York Yankees in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB draft and he went on to make his big league debut for the club in 2017.

He donned the pinstripes until 2021, when he was traded to the Angels.

Wade went on to play for the Oakland A’s and the San Diego Padres, before he attempted to make the Texas Rangers’ major league roster this season.

In his retirement announcement, Wade thanked all of the teams he played for as well as “all the coaches, staff, trainers and fans who played a part in my career.”

“And lastly,” Wade added in his statement, “to my teammates: I’m going to miss the grind, the clubhouse, the competition, and being in the jungle every day with the guys.”

Off the field, Wade was perhaps most known for his short relationship with Earle.

The two dated for several months in 2022 before splitting. Earle said during a 2023 episode of her “Hot Mess” podcast that they broke up because he had issues with her budding social media career.

Wade played in a total of 506 games across nine MLB seasons.
