Study finds viral supplement may boost muscle without exercise— How much will it cost you?
You could be getting jacked from the couch after all.
Or, more accurately, you could see some muscle gains without traditional exercise — at least, according to a new study that highlights one popular supplement as a potential contributor.
In a 12-week study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, adults ages 45 to 65 who took creatine increased their lean tissue and strength, even without following a structured exercise program. Participants who took creatine while exercising and following a calorie-reduced diet experienced even greater benefits, including increased fat loss.
That’s encouraging news for Gen Xers looking for an extra boost. Fortunately, there are several popular creatine brands available online — including Optimum Nutrition, Thorne and Transparent Labs — some of which retail for up to $80 per bottle.
But some shoppers have found more budget-friendly options on Amazon, and they’re offered in an especially convenient and tasty format. The En Natural brand’s popular creatine chews are just $35 ahead of October Prime Day, which kicks off Oct. 6 and 7 (though many deals are already live).
The blend combines 5 grams of creatine with L-theanine, green tea extract and vitamin B12, formulated to support “to support strength, stamina, clean energy, focus, and mental clarity.”
“I have tried pills, powders, and this,” one reviewer pointed out. “They all have different scenarios and benefits. These candy-style ones are interesting in that you can carry them like candies. So you won’t forget to take them like pills or powders, as they are in your pocket.”
Reviewers also say they enjoy the lightly sweet, mixed berry flavor.
“The mixed berry flavor makes the chews much easier to take than unflavored powder,” another reviewer shared. “I still think of this as a supplement, not candy, but the taste and texture are much more pleasant than dealing with chalky powder.”
With consistent use, many reviewers report increased mental and physical energy, along with improved workout recovery and performance. Some claim they’ve noticed better focus during long work days.
The Eu Natural formula is third-party tested and made in a GMP-certified facility. As with any new supplement, consult your physician before use.
