Pat McAfee issues scathing warning to those clamoring for a Jason Kelce apology: ‘I hope you all rot’
Pat McAfee didn’t mince words while addressing some who “thought I was being serious” when he called out Jason Kelce for saying “we” during every mention of his former Eagles team on “Monday Night Football.”
During Wednesday’s installment of “The Pat McAfee Show,” the polarizing personality told his critics to “rot” and explained that he experienced a “piling on” over the on-air moment at Solider Field — where Chicago beat the Birds 27-7 to improve to 2-1.
“Now, I usually mind my own, but if you thought I was being serious whenever I pointed out that Jason Kelce was saying ‘we’ about the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing who Jason Kelce is, with the Philadelphia Eagles at the ‘Monday Night Football’ halftime, you have no brain, and I think you should just realize that,” McAfee said.
“And I don’t love just the lying and the stuff that happens on my name these days, but just saying stuff to continue to add gas to a flame that isn’t real when you’re in this place and carry as much weight as you definitely do, I think it’s a little bit of a piling on, and I hope you all rot. All of you.”
Right before that, McAfee made a separate comment shading “a lot of bums that have microphones in this particular industry.”
He didn’t elaborate before going into his rant about Kelce.
On Tuesday, former ESPN analyst Ryan Clark — who was fired in July during an on-air appearance — defended Kelce for saying “we” while talking about the Eagles during the “MNF” halftime show because of he’s a future Hall of Famer in an X post.
Kelce spent his entire 13-year NFL career with Philadelphia, and won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in the 2017-18 season.
The former All-Pro center — who signed a multi-year deal with ESPN after he retired in 2024 — quickly apologized after McAfee’s call-out.
“A lot of we talk out of Jason for Philly,” McAfee said.

“Sorry, sorry,” Kelce replied.
Kelce previously has spoken about his former team with admiration.
It’s possible some are piling on McAfee since he’s been a lightning rod in the sports world.
Last week, McAfee raised concerns from some online when he read an alleged threat that was aimed at him aloud during his ESPN show.
The former NFL punter was live on-air when he read an X post from someone that seemed to reference the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
