‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ Season 39 Celebrates The Show’s Best Premiere Week In Three Years (EXCLUSIVE)

Live with Kelly and Mark Season 39 is already proving to be one for the books.

DECIDER can exclusively report that the syndicated daytime talk show led by co-hosts and husband and wife Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos—which has reigned as the most-watched entertainment talk show on television in all key measures for seven consecutive seasons— had its most-watched premiere week in three years.

The Season 39 premiere week also became Live‘s best performance among women ages 25-54 in two years, with the show leading all daytime talk shows among this demographic for its eighth season in a row.

Season 39 kicked off on Sept. 8, welcoming guests such as Lizzo, Kal Penn, Gal Gadot, and Sherri Shepherd. This season also marks Consuelos’ fourth as co-host, which the show celebrated during its Season 39 premiere week with a segment called, “Kelly and Mark 4-Ever.”

Live with Kelly and Mark continues its ratings rise across the board from week to week in measures like Total Viewers (+7% – 2.334 million vs. 2.173 million), Households (+4% – 1.51 rating vs. 1.45 rating), Women 18-49 (+22% – 0.28 rating vs. 0.23 rating), and Women 25-54 (0.39 rating vs. 0.33 rating). The show even earned its best overall audience and Household rating in five months. For 189 weeks in a row, Live has also been ranked as the No. 1 talk show in syndication across all key measures.

Live‘s ratings are a testament to the work of Ripa (who also serves as an executive producer), Consuelos, and of course the show’s production team, including EP Michael Gelman. While speaking with DECIDER ahead of Season 39, Gelman explained that Live‘s production staff is “not such a ginormous team,” totaling about 24 people, with some additional support, as well.

“I think that’s one of the reasons for our success is that we’ve kept it very efficient, very family[-like], and I think you get a better creative output out of it,” he added. “And at the same time, it makes the show more successful overall.”
