Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker’s relationship timeline: From prison proposal to his untimely death
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker had an on-again, off-again relationship prior to his passing.
The couple’s love story began in 2017, on the heels of Blanchard’s second-degree murder conviction for her role in her mother’s 2015 slaying.
While the couple briefly broke up during Blanchard’s time behind bars — with her even marrying and divorcing another man — they reconciled months after her 2023 prison release and went on to start a family.
In September 2026, Urker was discovered dead in his Louisiana home.
Blanchard shared a social media tribute to her partner at the time, writing, “You will always be my greatest love story. You will be remembered and loved forever.”
Revisit her and Urker’s relationship milestones below, from his prison proposal to their baby girl’s arrival.
Prison pen pals
Blanchard served seven years of her 10-year sentence at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Chillicothe, Missouri, before her December 2023 release — and Urker reached out via letter while she was behind bars.
He, notably, contacted the inmate after watching “Mommy Dead and Dearest,” a documentary that covered the abuse Blanchard suffered via mom Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard — and her plot to murder the 48-year-old with then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn.
After “kindhearted” Urker sent a “letter of support,” the pair became “fast friends” and started dating, Gypsy Rose explained to E! News in 2019.
Gypsy Rose, who “experimented” with her sexuality while in prison, said she and Urker started spending “hours on the phone.”
First kiss
Urker and Gypsy Rose shared a smooch “within 30 minutes” of his first visit, and she broke down the “funny story” for the outlet in 2019.
“He leaned over and gave me the most wonderful kiss of my whole life,” Gypsy Rose recalled. “The level of physical contact that is allowed is limited to holding hands, a brief hug and a closed mouth kiss. The kiss he gave me was quite passionate.”
“I looked at him and was like, ‘I didn’t even know you liked me like that’, and he said ‘Yeah, I have for a while’. And I’m like, ‘I have for a while too.”
Engaged behind bars
Urker got down on one knee during another visit in 2018, presenting Gypsy Rose with a silver band that ultimately was confiscated.
“He held my hands close and told me how much I meant to him,” she remembered. “He [was] like, ‘I would really, really be honored if I could have your hand in marriage,’ and I said yes.”
The reality star noted that the proposal wasn’t “out of the blue” as they had previously “bounced around the idea.”
Calling it quits
Urker and Gypsy Rose broke up in August 2019, which the latter described in her 2024 “My Time to Stand” memoir.
“There were many adults in his life, presumably much ‘wiser’ than he, who suggested it wasn’t the right time for me to be married,” she wrote. “‘If you love her, you’ll set her free,’ was the common piece of advice he’d hear again and again.”
She speculated that Urker “believed he was acting in [her] best interest by sacrificing his own needs and wants.”
Moving on
Gypsy Rose started dating Ryan Scott Anderson after her split from Urker, and she wed the Louisiana teacher while imprisoned.
The pair tied the knot in July 2022.
They were still together when Gypsy Rose was released from prison the following year — but separated months later.
Gypsy Rose filed for divorce from Anderson, whom she had reportedly butted heads with over food hoarding and snoring, in April 2024.
Their marriage legally ended that December.
Post-release reconciliation
Days after splitting from her husband, Gypsy Rose was photographed holding hands with Urker — and the duo got matching tattoos.
They confirmed their romance in a PDA-heavy video in April 2024, with Gypsy Rose revealing the following month that Urker was moving to Louisiana to be closer to her.
“We’re just basically enjoying our time together and, you know, hopeful for what the future has,” she told Entertainment Tonight in May 2024. “I don’t want to move too fast because, you know, I want to pace myself. I don’t want to put expectations and make things too heavy.”
Baby on the way
In July 2024, Gypsy Rose told her Instagram followers she was pregnant with her and Urker’s first child, due in January of the following year.
The “unexpected” pregnancy was “not planned at all,” Gypsy Rose clarified.
Aurora was born in December 2024, with the new parents calling their infant the “greatest gift of all.”
Additionally, Urker gushed to TMZ, “Aurora is healthy, and we are so happy.”
Couples therapy
While Gypsy Rose remains primarily off social media, she did give an update on her and Urker’s relationship in a March 2025 People interview — including the couples therapy they were doing to “improve” things.
“I like it because it gives an unbiased opinion,” she shared. “Because you don’t want to go to your family all the time to talk about the bad stuff. … So it’s nice for us to have someone in the middle.”
Gypsy Rose also confirmed that she “absolutely” saw Urker as her “forever,” telling the outlet, “I’ve always felt that way about him.”
Tragedy strikes
Following Urker’s death in September 2026, Gypsy Rose released a lengthy statement honoring her late partner as an “amazing father” and her “soulmate.”
She went on to write about the “relentless cyberbullying” Urker suffered before celebrating his parenting skills.
“Ken loved our daughter,” she continued. “She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us. I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”
While Gypsy Rose speculated Urker died of an overdose, his cause of death was not yet known.
Their relationship status at the time of his death also remains unclear as Urker’s sister Autumn alleged via TikTok Live that the couple were “split up” when he passed.
