Ravens coach gives telling Lamar Jackson injury update after QB sits entire second half
Lamar Jackson did not play after halftime Sunday, but Baltimore coach Jesse Minter sounded hopeful the two-time NFL MVP did not suffer a long-term injury.
Jackson limped off with an ankle injury late in the second quarter of the Ravens’ 24-18 home win over the Titans.
“Little bit of an ankle. Don’t know enough about it right now, we’ll have to see where that’s at,” Minter said after the Ravens improved to 3-1 to start the season. “Hopefully it’s in a good spot,
Jackson, who was limited in practice last week with a back issue, helped the Ravens build a 24-7 lead before intermission with 222 passing yards and two touchdowns, plus another 20 yards on the ground.
He was injured on the final offensive snap of the first half on a sack from behind by Tennessee defensive end Jermaine Johnson.
Jackson limped to the sidelines, but Minter added that there were conversations about using the veteran quarterback in the second half.
Baltimore didn’t score after intermission, with backup Tyler Huntley completing eight of nine passes for 63 yards. Jackson was in uniform on the sidelines before going to the locker room with under five minutes remaining.
The Ravens will face the Falcons on the road next week on Sunday night.
