Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold make embarrassing NFL history on first 2 plays of Chargers-Seahawks
The starting quarterbacks in Sunday’s Chargers-Seahawks game did not get off to a hot start.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert continued his brutal start to the season by being intercepted on the first play of the game against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Seahawks quarterback and former USC star Sam Darnold responded by being intercepted one play later.
This marked the first time in NFL history that both starting quarterbacks were intercepted on the first two plays of a game, according to @QBgami.
The difference between these two quarterbacks is how they rebounded from this historically bad start. Darnold had since thrown two touchdown passes and gotten his team off to a 27-6 lead. Herbert was intercepted again and only had 36 passing yards midway through the third quarter.
Herbert has at least one interception in every game this season and now has six total after the two against Seattle. Both of his picks against the Seahawks were brutal, as they looked like they were thrown straight to the opponent.
This is not how Chargers fans were hoping their season would go.
