‘Slow Horses’ Season 6, Episode 4 Exclusive Clip: Watch River And Sid Epically Strike Out At A Bowling Alley
Slow Horses Season 6, Episode 3 ended on one heck of a cliffhanger, with armed assassins Jim (Kyle Soller) and Jane (MyAnna Buring) following River (Jack Lowden) and Sid (Olivia Cooke) on their search for a payphone.
Thanks to DECIDER’s exclusive clip of Season 6, Episode 4, “Lost and Found,” we now know that search takes them to a Nova Bowl bowling alley, where they meet a deliciously stubborn cashier, Phil (Leon Annor), who refuses to let them use a payphone.
The two-minute clip from one of Slow Horses‘ greatest, most gorgeous episodes yet uses the glow of the bowling alley’s colorful neon lights, audible arcade ambience arcade games, and A-ha’s 1985 banger “Take On Me” to set the mood, while River and Sid flex their effortless chemistry at the counter and make agonizing small talk.
When Phil informs the duo that the lanes are closed for the night, River assures him they’re not there to bowl, and Sid shares their desire to use an emergency phone. Though Phil struggles to comprehend why they don’t have phones of their own, he reveals there’s a payphone by the lanes. But don’t get too excited; the Slow Horses can’t use it. Why? Phil’s closing up! He just told you!
River, at a loss for words, reaches into his pocket, pulls out a bill, and slides it across the counter in hopes of changing Phil’s mind. Instead of becoming a tiny bit richer, Phil hilariously shames River, asking, “What’s that then? Was that a bribe?” As River retreats and puts the bill back in his pocket, Sid tries to do damage control, offering to rent a lane in exchange for a quick call.

Sadly, Phil informs them, “It’s out of my hands, mate. The register locks electronically at close.” Then, in one of the season’s greatest lines, he adds, “And after that, no man born from his mother can open it.” (Actual LOL.)
As River struggles to wrap his head around the exaggerated, incredibly odd comment, he short-circuits and struggles to ask why they can’t use the payphone for two minutes. Thankfully, Sid is already one step ahead of him. She puts her face in her hands and starts sobbing, so convincingly that River genuinely asks what’s wrong.
“Sorry, it’s just my brother, he’s not in his right mind, and we lost him, and he should have been back at the hospital by now,” she says, seamlessly spitting out a lie. “We’re just really worried that he might do something to himself. Sorry.”

Thanks to Sid’s waterworks and the intense, challenging eye contact River made with Phil, the next time we see the dynamic duo, they’re at the Nova Bowl payphone. For those who need a refresher, Sid was desperate to call Kristin Scott Thomas’ Diana Taverner in hopes that MI-5’s First Desk could sort out why people are trying to kill her. While we don’t see if she makes the call or not, we do see her and River sharing a final swoon-worthy exchange.
“You know, the ease with which you lie is actually quite sociopathic,” River suggests.
“What, like an agent? Like a secret agent?” Sid replies with charming sarcasm.
The look that River gives her all but confirms what we’ve suspected since Season 1. He’s down bad! And this captivating look at Season 6, Episode 4 confirms what longtime fans have known since Season 1: Slow Horses masterfully weaves comedy into high-stakes missions, features sharp dialogue, and compelling performances.

The official synopsis for Slow Horses Season 6, Episode 4 reads, “Lamb tries figuring out who Frank is working for. Sid, River, and Coe do everything to evade the hit squad.” So be sure to tune in Wednesday, October 7, to see whatever new Slough House chaos unfolds.
