Dave Portnoy details the Ryan Day accusation he claims was pushed in Fox Sports removal

Dave Portnoy is blaming Ryan Day for his removal from Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff.”

The Barstool Sports honcho told Front Office Sports that Ohio State put together a reel of Portnoy’s anti-Buckeyes rhetoric and believes the coach’s misunderstanding of “doxxing” only made matters worse, with Portnoy getting taken off the college football pregame show.

“It’s been basically since Day One,” Portnoy said of when Ohio State began trying to push him off the show. “When Fox announced the deal, Ohio State objected to it instantly, to the point that Fox executives were in Columbus and were shown a 30- to 45-minute highlight tape of me ripping Ohio State and Ryan Day — all of the stuff that people familiar with me and Barstool have probably seen with the rivalry stuff. So, very upset that I would be added to Big Noon Kickoff.”

Portnoy, a Michigan University alum and booster, has always pushed the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry, but he added that Day believes this went far beyond normal banter.

“From what I gather, Ryan Day thinks I ‘doxxed’ him. I’ve heard that a lot from not only Fox people, but people here in Nantucket. I’m not 100% sure he knows how the internet works, and I don’t even mean that facetiously,” Portnoy added. “But like during the whole [Jim] Harbaugh thing [spying scandal], when it was back and forth in the news every day, there was a story at On3 that said [Day’s] brother was running a spy operation against Harbaugh, which, by the way, is hilarious.”

The closest thing The Post could find to Portnoy ‘doxxing’ Day — internet slang for sharing personal and private information — came this past summer, after the Buckeyes coach moved Senior Day to Week 1, and Portnoy called him a “scared little chicken boy.” Ohio State would traditionally hold the day during their final home game, which would sometimes be their clash with Michigan.

Portnoy noted Day was on Nantucket at the time and in the process of purchasing a property there, but didn’t give an address or anything close to that — not exactly the definition of “doxxing.”

Portnoy notes that the beef started well before that: in his debut year on the show, he was barred from entering Ohio State’s stadium for its Aug. 30, 2025 game against Texas.

“Ohio State denied that they did it, but really from Day One they were very unhappy with me being on the air,” Portnoy continued. “Any time anyone—not only me—would criticize Ohio State or Ryan Day, they would complain.”

Michigan, in the middle of a nightmare season, faces Ohio State on Thanksgiving week in a rivalry that appears to be intensifying as one of Michigan’s most recognizable alums gets personal with Day and the Buckeyes.
