Will There Be A ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 5? ‘Ted Lasso’ Stars Weigh In On The Future Of The Series

When the end credits roll on Ted Lasso Season 4, I can’t imagine that AFC Richmond fans will be ready to say goodbye to Apple TV’s feel-good Emmy-winning comedy — especially so soon after they just got it back!

It’s been a blast reuniting with Ted (Jason Sudeikis), Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Keeley f*cking Jones (Juno Temple), Higgins (Jeremy Swift), and more OG Ted Lasso characters. And though we really could have done without meeting Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) and saying goodbye to our dearly beloved Mae Greene (Annette Badland), we’ve adored meeting Coach Alice Chilton (Tanya Reynolds), Gemma (Abbie Hern), Lizzie (Faye Marsay), and the rest of the Lady Greyhounds.

So is this the end of our time with AFC Richmond’s women’s team? Will Ted Lasso’s hopeful world live on? And if so, will we have to wait another three years to get new episodes? If you’re curious about the future of Ted Lasso, you’re not alone!

Will there be a Ted Lasso Season 5 on Apple TV? Has Apple TV renewed or canceled Ted Lasso? And when will Ted Lasso Season 5 premiere? Here’s everything to know about a potential Ted Lasso Season 5, including comments from DECIDER’s interviews with stars Badland, Reynolds, and Hern.

How Many Episodes Are In Ted Lasso Season 4?

Ted Lasso Season 4 consists of 10 episodes, which means Episode 410 served as the season finale.

Will There Be A Ted Lasso Season 5 On Apple TV?

As of Ted Lasso‘s Season 4 finale night, Apple TV has yet to officially renew Ted Lasso for a fifth season, but that’s not to say Ted Lasso Season 5 isn’t a possibility. The Emmy-winning series is one of Apple TV’s most popular original shows. Heck, that’s part of the reason why it returned for Season 4! And the finale synopsis specifically says “Season Finale” not “Series Finale,” which feels hopeful.

Given the success of the series and the large fanbase, we can certainly see Apple greenlighting more seasons of Ted Lasso, especially since there’s more of the Lady Greyhounds’ story to tell, and Sudeikis told The Hollywood Reporter he revived the series with another three-season arc in mind. When Decider spoke with stars Abbie Hern and Tanya Reynolds ahead of the finale, they also expressed interest in and hopes for Season 5.

When asked if the stars had a larger sense of where their character arcs could lead after Season 4’s finale, Reynolds said, “We have no idea. There’s obviously so much potential, so many possibilities…” That said, the duo does have one hope for the future of Ted Lasso.

“We’d be so interested in a flashback to our Arsenal days,” Reynolds continued. “We can get to the bottom of the beef. But also, I saw a clip of you guys playing football, and you all look so cool, and I feel jealous that I don’t get to play football. I’m grateful I don’t get to play football, because if I did, it would be horrendous and I would be a laughing stock, but you did all look very cool, so I’m like maybe…”

“I want to see Alice in a kit, though. Just for a minute,” Hern agreed. “Yeah, so I could put one shot of Alice kicking the ball. Even if it has to be my head CGI’d onto someone else’s body,” Reynolds concluded.

Even though we said goodbye to Mae in Season 4’s penultimate episode, Badland she’d like to return to the series down the line and already has the perfect plan. “You never know. There is a film called It’s a Wonderful Life, where an angel keeps popping back. Maybe Mae can pop back up as a sort of conscience,” Badland told DECIDER.

So naturally, we need Ted Lasso Season 5 to make the stars’ Arsenal flashback and It’s Mae Wonderful Life dreams a reality!

Ted Lasso Season 5 Release Date: When Will Ted Lasso Season 5 Premiere?

Since Ted Lasso has yet to be officially renewed, there’s no Ted Lasso Season 5 premiere date on the books yet. And considering there was a three-year gap between Season 3 and Season 4, who’s to say how long it could take to get more new episodes? It seems like that’s in Sudeikis’ hands. But based on the original three-season run, Season 1 and Season 2 premiered a little less than a year apart in 2020 and 2021, and Season 2 and Season 3 had around a year-and-eight months-long gap between them.

So if renewal, writing, and production happened without major delays, here’s hoping we could see new episodes in fall 2027, if not early to mid 2028. Again, stay tuned for updates.

In the meantime, be sure to catch up on Decider’s Ted Lasso coverage for in-depth recaps, analysis, interviews with the cast, and more helpful show insights.
