Zoe Kazan’s small-screen adaptation of East of Eden finds itself in the Netflix Top 10.

Based on John Steinbeck’s classic 1952 novel of the same name, the buzzy new limited series stars Florence Pugh as famed antihero Cathy Ames, and also features Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist as brothers Adam and Charles Trask.

Zoe, who not only created the series but wrote every episode, isn’t the first Kazan to tackle an adaptation of the classic tale, with her grandfather, Elia Kazan, directing the 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean.

“The movie isn’t a super faithful adaptation of the small part of the book that it is adapting,” Kazan told Tudum. “What I felt was the whole epic story is an opportunity to explore, to fall in love with all these characters.”

Decider gave the series a “Stream It” recommendation, calling the show “Netflix’s latest major limited series powerhouse.” What does the future hold for East of Eden? Will there be a Season 2? Here’s everything you need to know.

“I didn’t have a backup,” series creator Zoe Kazan said about casting Pugh. “I didn’t have another person that I thought would be just as good. She is the exact right person to play Cathy.”

Will There Be a Season 2 of East of Eden on Netflix?

Nope. While anything could happen, the show is a limited series based on Steinbeck’s 1952 novel. There are no current plans for a second season.
