Jon Stewart rips Democrats who want to impeach Trump yet again: ‘A f–king five-act performative play!’

Jon Stewart blasted Democrats who want to impeach President Trump yet again if they regain control of Congress, arguing it would be “a f–king five-act performative play!”

The late-night comedian was responding to questions from fans – including whether it would be a “strategic mistake” to pursue impeachment – at the end of the Wednesday episode of his podcast “The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart.”

“We’ve already shown there’s no accountability,” said the funnyman, who’s known for taking himself pretty seriously when it comes to politics.

He went on to argue the nation is in a “triage” state and said he wants to see Democrats in positions of power tackle more pressing issues – like “rebalancing” the economy, especially tensions in the labor market.

“That’s where all their efforts should be,” he said. “I don’t want to see a f–king five-act performative play of House hearings. I just don’t want to see it.

“I don’t want to see everybody having the opportunity to pantomime accountability, ‘cuz you know they’re actually not going to bring it.”

Stewart – who regularly hosts “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central – argued Congress wasn’t able to hold Trump accountable for the Jan. 6, 2021 attacks on the Capitol, and has already impeached him twice without seeing any real impact.

“If you couldn’t bring accountability to Jan. 6 in two years, what confidence do any of us have that you’re going to be able to untangle Eric and Don’s drone company?” he fumed.

“There is not a person of that power and privilege who can’t figure out how to run out the clock on a two-year investigation.”

Referring again to his triage metaphor, Stewart argued that it would be a failure for Dems to focus on pursuing another impeachment if they win seats in the November midterm elections.

“On the triage list of what’s wrong in this country, it is, ‘I’m sorry sir, you’re going to have to stay in the waiting room, ‘cuz this guy just got shot and it sounds to me like you just have a sore throat.’ Like, do the s–t that actually is killing people right now,” he said.

Trump asserted Wednesday that Democrats have no reason to impeach him and said he has shown restraint by not targeting former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton, I could have done very, very bad things to Joe Biden, I could have done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama,” Trump said in the Oval Office, answering a question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy about whether he was concerned about impeachment threats.

“I thought it was inappropriate to do so because you have to treat the office of the presidency with respect,” the president continued. “Then I found out that they impeached me twice. I certainly – even to this moment I can do whatever I want, if I want.

“But I view the presidency as a very sacred position. Very sacred position. Very important, very sacred, a position where it has to be treated properly.”
