Mamdani’s disgraceful Oct. 7 remarks: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 9, 2026

The Issue: Mayor Mamdani’s statement on the third anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Mayor Mamdani’s blasphemous “genocide” remarks on the anniversary of Oct. 7, when over 1,100 Jews were killed by Hamas terrorists, should wake up all Jewish New Yorkers (“Mam’s mourning sickness on 10/7,” Oct. 8).

Hamas terrorists murdered over a thousand Jews and then staged their military among civilians to maximize casualties. And now, they’re propagating the narrative of genocide to defame Israel.

New Yorkers must vote for better leaders.

The mayor’s statement of sympathy was 100% phony. The attempted offer of an olive branch to New York’s Jews was just an opportunity to spread even more anti-Israel propaganda.

Mayor Mamdani, shut up about Israel, Palestine and Gaza and try governing the city.

Mark Seitelman

After the mayor’s feeble attempt at remembering the victims of the Oct. 7 terrorist attack, he traveled uptown to a Palestinian restaurant.

I’m sure it was to apologize to them for his earlier remarks, when he acknowledged the atrocities the Jewish people suffered — before going on a diatribe about the “genocide” in Gaza.

The anniversary of Oct. 7 is a painful day of commemoration for any decent human being.

How telling it is that this repulsive antisemite couldn’t rein it in for even a day?

Daniel Trigoboff

In his statement, Mamdani said, “We must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue.”

Meanwhile, Muslims have equal rights in Israel, but Jews dare not enter Palestinian Authority controlled areas for fear of their lives.

What happened to the Jewish communities of the Arab world? They were ethnically cleansed.

Now that is what you call “apartheid,” Mayor.

Gamaliel Isaac

Manhattan

Most Americans can take great pride that our nation has served as a sanctuary for those suffering from religious persecution.

Freedom to worship as we choose is a fundamental right in our Constitution, which the mayor took an oath to support.

Mamdani’s recent statement libeling Jews as genocidal amounts to an arrogant attempt to spread his own beliefs at the point of a sword.

He remains unfit to serve as the mayor.

The anniversary of Oct. 7 was neither a day to deliver an indictment of Israel, nor should it have been a day to garner sympathy for Gaza.

Mayor Mamdani, the victims required your moral clarity and judgment to recognize what this anniversary means, especially to Jewish people, all too many of whom foolishly voted for you.

Niles Welikson

About 600,000 were killed during the civil war in Syria, Christians are being slaughtered throughout Africa and China has hundreds of thousands of Uhygurs in prison camps.

Mamdani chooses to ignore this because of his obsession with Israel. He never tires of extending the boundaries of hypocrisy.

Joe Zeloof

Mamdani is resorting to the traditional tactics of Islamic terrorists.

Taking the killing over 1,100 Jews and diverting the blame to Jews for pursuing the perpetrators is a reflection of the taqiyya, the strategic deployment of deceit in the service of Islam.

The response of Islamic terrorists responding to “Never again” seems to be “Never again until I fool you again,” which has been remarkably successful in world diplomacy.

William Fidurski

Clark, NJ

Mamdani’s Oct. 7 statement made it clear that he embraces the unrevoked Article 7 of the Hamas Charter, which demands that supporters of Hamas murder every Jew on earth.

Any word he says is pure taqiyya, and his supporters know it.
