Bills Pro Bowl lineman sends direct message to Rams’ Myles Garrett ahead of Monday night clash

The Rams and Bills square off on “Monday Night Football.”

It marks the Rams’ fourth prime-time matchup in five games to start the season, but it also represents another bout without reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins sent a message to Garrett ahead of Monday’s game.

“I want to send a personal message out to Myles Garrett. Hope he gets healthy, man. Football misses him. Keep being Myles,” Dawkins told reporters.

Garrett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and hasn’t played since the Rams’ season opener against the 49ers in Australia, where the edge rusher registered zeros across the board.

His lackluster performance was evidence that Garrett wasn’t at his best, and the Rams quickly placed him on injured reserve soon after. The defensive star isn’t expected to return after spending the minimum four weeks on IR, which he is eligible next week against the Cardinals.

Coach Sean McVay said Garrett is trending in the right direction, so there is a chance he returns for Week 6.

The Rams traded for Garrett in the offseason in what was considered the blockbuster move that put LA over the top. The squad was already a Super Bowl favorite prior to the trade but acquiring Garrett all but guaranteed the Rams would hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February — or so people thought.

But thus far, the trade has been a disappointment.

Garrett has only played one game for the Rams this season, and he performed terribly in the Week 1 matchup. The Rams sit at .500 after their shaky start.

Perhaps Garrett’s return can provide more consistency as the Rams chase a Super Bowl title.
