‘Speechless’ Dan Levy blasts ‘misogynist’ Shane Gillis’ ‘SNL’ monologue: ‘More men need to be standing up’

Dan Levy was left “speechless” by Shane Gillis’ “Saturday Night Live” monologue about some of the attire females wear at the gym.

“Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There’s a difference there,” the “Schitt’s Creek” star argued in an Instagram Reel shared Sunday, referring to comments the comedian made during the sketch comedy show.

“By the way, I’ve seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off. I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.”

Levy, 43, went on to say that “more men need to be standing up in opposition” to the behavior.

“It’s complacency that has created the environment with which women are sexually assaulted and it’s a conversation opposed to a crime. Men need to be defending women more,” he continued.

“This is not a women’s issue, this is an everybody issue. Because the more that men objectify women in the media, the more that other men see them as objects and treat them as objects. They are not objects. They are superior human beings to men.”

“I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television,” he said of Gillis’ monologue (seen above).
The “Schitt’s Creek” star also argued that men “need to be standing up in opposition” to the behavior Gillis exhibited.

Levy concluded, “I’m sorry if this gets me in trouble with the internet, but f—k.”

Page Six has reached out to a rep for Gillis for comment.

Several celebs took to the comments section of Levy’s post to agree with his sentiments.

“Thank you dan❤️,” Hannah Einbinder commented, with Elizabeth Banks adding, “Nailed it.”

“THIS Thank you!” Elaine Hendrix wrote, while Flavor Flav added, “💯.”

While hosting the NBC show on Saturday, Gillis, 38, was met with backlash for his description of female gymgoers during his monologue.

“I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now,” Gillis said, garnering a mixture of laughs and groans from the live audience.

“Look, I’m sorry there’s no other way to describe it. Have you seen it, I’ve seen it,” he said as he described the gymwear.

“The shorts, have you seen the shorts? Those neon, they’re like artificial bait color. The wrinkles go around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole,” he said.

“And don’t look, you’re not allowed to look. For real, don’t look because they are filming. I’m in the background of about 10 TikToks right now.”

The actor did issue an apology to the audience at the end of the night — but not for his monologue.

Later on in the night, Gillis did issue an apology — but it wasn’t for his monologue.
During the end show bows, he apologized for accidentally dropping the F-bomb during a skit.

He accidentally dropped an F-bomb as he derailed a Dr. Seuss-inspired sketch.

Gillis made the quick apology alongside musical guest Rosalia and the rest of the “SNL” cast.

“And, uhh, sorry about earlier. Thank you guys very much. Have a good night,” the comedian said, signing off and bowing.
