‘Breaking Bad’ star RJ Mitte shared his hopes for old age in one of his final interviews before suicide

“Breaking Bad” alum RJ Mitte declared that he would stay true to himself when he got older in one of his final interviews before he died by suicide at age 34.

During an interview on the Oct. 3 episode of the “Brownsville in Motion” podcast, Mitte was asked to “paint a picture” of what he thought his life would look like at age 50.

“I would hope to stay true to what I believe and to what I want to achieve,” he said.

“And not be a grumpy middle-aged person,” Mitte jokingly added. “A curmudgeon.”

Mitte explained that due to his cerebral palsy, which he battled since age 3, he had “a lot of hip pain,” so he always envisioned himself “being all shriveled” when he got older.

Because of that, Mitte said that “diet and exercise is key for me.”

Mitte also shared his hopes for The Mitte Foundation, the Texas-based non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities, which he served as the president of.

“I hope it continues to maintain its missions,” he said. “We are a very strong team in the foundation. Luckily for us, it’s set before us. It’s about growing the endowment. Still maintaining our community relationships.”

Mitte continued, “I hope that we just continue to put kids in schools, to provide those resources and tools to give more education, more opportunity. Our scholars at the foundation, we have some of the best and brightest kids. We will continue to provide these resources and tools.”

In conclusion, Mitte gushed he was “very proud to work with a team of people that continues this mission, continues this growth.”

Mitte died by suicide on Monday, according to TMZ, who first reported the news. The investigation into Mitte’s death is ongoing.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his rep confirmed in a statement to Page Six Monday.

The rep noted that beyond Mitte’s famous role as Walter “Flynn” White Jr. on “Breaking Bad,” Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.

“He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities,” the rep added.

Mitte’s final public appearance was just days before his death, when he spoke to inspirational podcast Stauros Entertainment on Oct. 2 about his role in his new movie, “Talking to Strangers,” in which he played a man with cerebral palsy involved in a love affair.

At the film’s LA premiere on Sept. 30, Mitte exclusively told Page Six that he’d happily star in a “Breaking Bad” spinoff.

Mitte’s former co-stars mourned the actor following news of his death, including his TV dad, Bryan Cranston.

“I’m in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died,” Cranston wrote on Instagram on Monday, noting Mitte played Walter Jr. “with such joy and enthusiasm.”

Cranston also revealed he was texting Mitte about getting together for lunch “just a few weeks ago,” but the meet-up never happened.

“I don’t know if that lunch would have changed his future,” Cranston heartbreakingly wrote.
