Maxx Crosby sets record straight on Patrick Mahomes ‘moan’ controversy

Last week, Raiders star Maxx Crosby was asked by “The Rush” podcast co-host Brogan Roback whether Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes moaned when he got tackled by the edge rusher.

The conversation went viral and amassed millions of views because it sounded to many like Crosby was saying Mahomes moaned.

After mentioning how the clip and ensuing article about Mahomes potentially moaning went viral last week, Roback said, “Do we want to clarify real quick? I am the one who asked if Mahomes said the word ‘moan’ … Yes, we could have said the word ‘grunt.’ But we couldn’t think of anything.

“I didn’t even say it in the clip, either. That’s, I’m like, ‘What did I say?’ And I’m like, ‘Did I say that?’” Crosby responded.

Crosby is correct that he never directly said Mahomes moaned when he gets tackled.

“You said something like, ‘There’s no other word really to use,’” Roback replied.

“Yeah, I was like, ‘There’s no other word.’ But I didn’t actually say it. You stopped me before I even say it. That’s why [the] internet is a crazy place… I didn’t even say that’s why I was so confused. But, hey, you know how the internet works,” Crosby added.

There’s clearly a lot of mutual respect between Mahomes and Crosby. And Crosby didn’t want to muddy this by letting these moaning allegations linger.
