Caleb Williams reveals full extent of injury as he blasts reporting of ‘false ones’
Caleb Williams wants to clear the air surrounding his injury.
During a Bears press conference Thursday, Williams gave details about the hamstring injury he suffered back in Week 2 and said that the reports concerning it have been wrong.
“There is nothing that has come out that has been right about what it is and what it has been,” Williams said about his injury. “I would say from y’all’s side is being able to report it and go through it in the right way.
“And then from there, if you haven’t heard it from bossman himself or out of the horse’s mouth, me, it would probably be wrong. Every single one has been.”
Reporters then asked Williams some follow-up questions regarding the injury, and the third-year QB immediately shot back.
When a reporter asked about the grade of hamstring strain, Williams responded by saying that it didn’t deserve “to be out there after all the false ones.”
“It’s not deserving. Next question. Next question. Thank you,” Williams contended after another reporter asked why the QB was withholding the details.
Williams also mentioned the people who criticized his emotion when leaving the field with his injury.
Upon exiting the game, Williams was seen tearing up and crying while being carted off the field, which was the subject of much discourse on social media.
“Yeah, I’m always going to show emotion, especially when I can’t be out there with the guys,” Williams said.
“I care about the team, the organization, winning, being out there, my teammates — all of that,” he added. “I care, and that’s the biggest thing. This is what I love to do. This puts a smile on my face. It’s everything to me.
“So, not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the tears, or whatever that was.”
Williams, 24, was listed as a full participant for the second straight practice on Thursday as he eyes a return to action for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.
The Bears have gone 2-1 in Williams’ absence, but they will be glad to have the former No. 1 overall pick back from injury.
So far this season, Williams has thrown for 407 yards with two touchdowns while completing 65.5 percent of his passes.
