Cowboys vs. Packers prediction: Why we’re betting on a historic shootout on ‘Sunday Night Football’
This is one of those few times when I have actually been “waiting all day for Sunday night,” as Carrie Underwood would put it.
We’ve got two massive fanbases facing off on “Sunday Night Football” as the Cowboys head to Lambeau Field for a date with the Packers.
These two offenses, mixed with the opposing defensive units, are breeding shootouts on a regular basis.
Packers vs. Cowboys prediction, best bet
Green Bay comes in as a slight home favorite of 1.5 points, while the total comes in at a big 52.5 points.
Last week, the Packers averaged 11.8 yards per pass attempt, the most in the league, and while the Cowboys simmered a bit as CeeDee Lamb went down with an injury, they still boast similar offensive firepower.
Green Bay is averaging 271 passing yards per game, while the Cowboys are putting up 269.6, both top-five marks in the league.
Dallas also has the No. 32 defensive DVOA, while the Packers were ranked No. 24 last week before a big performance against Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent inflated their ranking up to No. 8.
We’re looking to target points in every way possible in this game.
The best way to do that is to get aggressive and prepare for what could easily be a 38-35 slobberknocker that only ends with the leg of Brandon Aubrey from 65 yards out.
Slam the Over 52.5, and feel free to get even more aggressive than that with alternate totals: the Cowboys have already given up 30 points to two inferior offenses this year.
And, here’s an interesting stat: in games where these last two teams have met, the winner has scored at least 30 points every time.
Betting on the NFL?
Expect the Packers to go up early and the Cowboys to be playing catch up all night in what lines up to be a fantasy manager’s dream.
PREDICTION: Over 52.5 (-110) | Over 60.5 (+220, FanDuel) | Over 68.5 (+520, FanDuel)
