Jet skids off runway after botched takeoff at Las Vegas airport

A private jet aborted its takeoff after it ran off the end of a runway at Harry Reid International Airport Sunday morning.

The aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 50 with tail number N200SG, was departing from Runway 1L at about 11 a.m. when it skidded off the runway and made contact with the airport’s perimeter fence.

“At approximately 11 a.m., upon departure, a general aviation aircraft skid off runway 1L at LAS and made contact with the perimeter fence. There are no known injuries at this time,” the airport said.

“Runways 1R and 1L will be closed for inspection, and travelers may experience some delays. We will provide updates as more information becomes available,” authorities said.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a ground stop for the airport, citing an “aircraft emergency.” Airport officials said the stop may result in delays and urged travelers to check with their airlines about flight status.

FAA registry records show that the aircraft, a three-engine business jet, is owned by Jacks Wings LLC of Boca Raton, Florida. (edited)
