Rams special teams takes another massive hit with tragic injury news to newly-signed kicker

For the second week in a row, the Los Angeles Rams will have to find a new kicker.

Head coach Sean McVay said on Monday that Blake Grupe will be placed on the team’s injured reserve after he tore his ACL in Sunday’s 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

After he nailed a 44-yard field goal through the uprights in the first quarter, Grupe injured his knee in the kickoff that followed.

Grupe attempted to tackle Cardinals kick returner Devin Duernay and instead was on the receiving end of a big hit.

After the collision, Grupe grabbed his knee and was removed from the game.

According to Michael Duarte of The California Post, McVay said that the team will have a new kicker in the next day or two.

Grupe was signed by the team less than a week ago, after they released Harrison Mevis following a special teams disaster against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.

Los Angeles has struggled to find consistency at the position over the last two seasons, as they had Mevis and Joshu Karty as their kickers last year.
