Hospitals aren’t like they used to be — the people running them only care about money, not patients
Doctoring the profits
A VIP doctor — esteemed, high in his medical profession — told me:
“Over a year ago — as VIP specialties began to erode — a known drug company saw what they considered an opportunity. Not just to help science. Not essentially to assist those in need. Not particularly to ease the pains of aging. The decision was openly, plainly financial.”
They would buy out smaller doctors with the least financial futures and tiniest practices and located in the lesser communities. These were not hotshot big-time lifesavers. No major scientists. Some were not running hot financially. Some becoming seniors were pleased to be getting bought out.
Seems it was not as profitable financially as drug company brains originally thought. NOW — a year later — they’re stopping the practice. It’s into reversal. They’re not earning what was predicted. So, ask these VIP medics the future of medicine and they’ll tell you — it’s going down. Now superiors check to see just how long you’ve spent with a patient. Also how many patients were you able to see in one day?
The hospital situation, they will tell you, is dire.
Hometown glam
New York is threads and hemlines. In 1928, Vogue’s editor Edna Woolman Chase brought 17 together — like Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubinstein — for a ladies’ lunch. Included was Eleanor Roosevelt. She was no Dior but she helped create a place for new designers.
Now, NYC’s almost 100-year-old Fashion Group is getting even more fashionable. Before all the kvetching, Ralph Lifshitz sold ties at Bergdorf and then became Ralph Lauren. Calvin Klein apprenticed on Seventh Avenue. Donna Karan hailed from Queens and it wasn’t a penthouse. Michael Kors — Long Island. Vera Wang worked at Saint Laurent on Madison Avenue. Marc Jacobs and Geoffrey Beene bit into the Big Apple fast. And as put graciously: Halston possibly designed ultra-suede condoms.
Recently the Rainbow Room hosted Wang. Great idea wherein today’s high fashion is boobs, butts, backless, bottomless, bloomers, bras and belly buttons. Not complaining is Brooklyn’s Isaac Mizrahi. His brand’s on QVC.
Just plain nosy
Celebrities, like mosquitoes, are everywhere. They even smell better. Their scents now make not cents, but dollars. Julia Roberts spritzes Lancome. Dakota Johnson and Alexander Skarsgard splash on Valentino. Zendaya gets Zen with Prada. For Gracie Abrams it’s Chanel’s Coco. Florence Pugh does not say “p-u” to Max Mara. Billie Eilish praises her Eilish brand.
On Bloomingdale’s main floor the scent level will send you right to an ear/eye/nose and throat specialist who possibly got his nasal diploma via a correspondence course.
So, are we now experiencing the beginning of Armageddon?
We weren’t there at the world’s beginning. Are we here now at its ending?
America, New York, France, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Taiwan, China, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, Palestinian territories, everywhere . . . it’s universal hate, horror, anger, war.
We’re forgoing kids’ lunch money to zoom to downtown Jupiter just to establish interstellar army camps?
Someone who is smarter than I, let us know, is this IT?!
