49ers’ Mike Evans exits Monday Night Football with non-contact injury

During the final minute of the first half in Monday night’s game between the 49ers and the Commanders, wide receiver Mike Evans was seen limping off the field into the San Francisco locker room.

Evans’ exit from the game came from a non-contact injury after he completed a 16-yard reception from quarterback Brock Purdy.

Evans was seen running up the seam, and went down to the ground to make the catch. After rolling on the ground, completing the grab, he could be seen grabbing at his Achilles.

Coming into Monday night’s game, Evans was questionable to play as he spent the entirety of this past week not practicing, as he was dealing with a rib and Achilles injury.

Evans is the 49ers’ leading receiver this season, and had three receptions on five targets for 94 yards, including a 54-yard reception during the first six minutes of the game.

The 49ers wide receiver position has been decimated by injuries this season, as the team came into Monday night without Christian Kirk, Deebo Samuel, and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling.

San Francisco currently leads Washington 20-3 at halftime.

This is a developing story with more to come.
