‘Glee’ reboot announced — with Lea Michele returning as Rachel Berry
Lea Michele is reportedly set to return to the “Glee” reboot series.
According to multiple sources for Variety, Michele will star as her original character, Rachel Berry, in the Disney+ and Hulu production. A source told the outlet that Michele “is in.”
“It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good and we’re happy to get the band back together,” a separate source told the outlet.
Reps for Michele and Ryan Murphy — who created the original beloved musical dramedy series — did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment on Wednesday.
Heather Morris, who played Brittany Pierce, and Chord Overstreet, who played Sam Evans, have seemingly also confirmed they will appear in the series via social media announcements on Wednesday.
“Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true,” Morris captioned a throwback photo of herself in her red William Mickinley High School cheerleading uniform.
“Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well…And back for more #Glee.”
Meanwhile, via X, Overstreet wrote, “Reunited and it feels so good!”
Michele starred on the wildly popular Fox original series from 2009 to 2015, playing the talented and ambitious original Glee Club member. Her work garnered her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination and two Golden Globe nominations.
Prior to the news, Michele teased a potential return to the series.
“I love ‘Glee,’ I will always love ‘Glee,’” she gushed to E! News last month. “I love Ryan Murphy.”
Michele emphasized that the show “just holds such a special place in my heart for me,” adding, “I will follow Ryan [Murphy] wherever he goes.”
Michele has previously spoken out on her character’s arc over the show’s six seasons.
“What I have learned is just how much this is Rachel’s journey to becoming a team player and learning who she is within this group,” the actress once said.
“You look at Rachel and realize that she is not someone who needs help speaking her mind. This Glee club allows all of the kids to use their voice and let the voice inside of them come out.”
