Amazon listing pulled for Halloween witch featuring Star of David spell book
The witch is dead.
The listing for a $219 animatronic witch that was blasted for featuring a Star of David on its spell book has been pulled from Amazon, The Post has learned.
The “Collective Home” listing for the six-foot tall Halloween decoration is “currently unavailable” and states that “we don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”
New York City politicians last week called for the listing from Collective Home to be taken down after The Post reported about a Brooklyn woman who inadvertently planted the decoration on her front lawn and was horrified to discover the offensive imagery.
“I’m very upset, this is horrible,” cried the woman, who insisted, “I don’t want to insult any religion. I’m sensitive about these things. I’m a big supporter of Israel and the Jewish people.”
The City Council’s “Antisemitism Task Force” filed a formal complaint with the e-commerce juggernaut in response.
“Such imagery can reasonably be perceived as demeaning to Jewish people and hurtful to members of the Jewish community. It may also incite violence against the Jewish community,” the council members wrote in an Oct. 14 letter.
The bipartisan task force commended the swift action in a statement Wednesday.
“Having a witch with a Star of David spell book conjures up age old libels about Jews—a tone deaf decoration in today’s climate. I’m delighted to see the Task Force’s concerns so imminently addressed,” Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, a Brooklyn Republican and the task force’s co-chair, said.
Amazon told The Post that the third-party seller removed the product from its page.
