Is the ‘Wildwood’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or Disney+?
The studio that brought you Coraline and ParaNorman is back with a new, enchanting stop-motion film: Wildwood, a new fantasy film opening in movie theaters this weekend.
Directed by Travis Knight (the current head of the independent studio Laika, known for its stop-motion animation films), with a screenplay written by Chris Butler, Wildwood is an adaptation of Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis’s 2011 middle-grade novel of the same name. The story follows a teenage girl named Prue (voiced by Peyton Elizabeth Lee) who travels into a dangerous enchanted forest with her friend Curtis (voiced by Jacob Tremblay), in search of Prue’s baby brother who has been kidnapped by a murder of crows.
The Wildwood voice cast also includes Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Len Cariou, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant. The movie has received critical acclaim for it’s gorgeous visuals and is probably best enjoyed the big screen. But if you’d rather wait to watch this one at home, then read on to find out what we know about where and when the Wildwood movie will be streaming.

Where to watch the Wildwood movie:
For now, Wildwood will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, October 23. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Wildwood is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the Wildwood movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?
Wildwood is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Wildwood may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Wildwood is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film produced by Laika, known for stop-motion animation, and being distributed by Fathom Entertainment.
You will be able to purchase Wildwood on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Wildwood on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Wildwood movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms. Most movies tend to come to digital after about one to two months in theaters, so we’d guess that you’ll see Wildwood on digital to buy and rent around early December 2026.
Right now, Fathom Entertainment does not have any ongoing deals with any particular streaming service, so we don’t yet know which streamer (if any) will grab the subscription-based streaming rights to Wildwood. That said, the other movies from Laika—like Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls—are currently streaming on HBO Max. So it’s possible you might see Wildwood streaming on HBO Max eventually.
If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.
If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.
When will the Wildwood movie be streaming on HBO Max?
You might see Wildwood streaming on HBO Max around late February 2027 or early March 2027.
While we don’t know for sure that Wildwood will be streaming on HBO Max, the other movies from Laika—like Coraline, ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls—are currently streaming on HBO Max. Often, it takes about four months for movies to go from the theaters to a subscription-based streaming service. In the case of Wildwood, that would be around late February 2027 or early March 2027.
But this is all speculation. If you want to see the Wildwood movie ASAP, your best bet is to go watch it in a theater.
