The very healthy meal ‘disciplined’ Victoria Beckham ‘rarely deviates’ from

She may be one of the Spice Girls, but when it comes to food, there’s little variety on her plate.

At 52, Victoria Beckham continues to turn heads, with many wondering how she maintains her youthful looks and svelte figure.

Part of the answer may lie in her diet. After all, you are what you eat — and the fashion designer has reportedly stuck to the same meal for more than two decades, much to the dismay of her soccer superstar husband.

“Unfortunately, I’m married to someone who has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years,” David Beckham, 51, lamented during a 2022 appearance on the “River Cafe Table 4” podcast.

“Since I’ve met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables,” he revealed. “She’ll very rarely deviate away from there.”

Sound bland? She is British, after all.

“Talk about making me sound boring!” Victoria fired back in an interview with Vogue Australia. “What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined with the way that they eat.”

On the day-to-day, the television personality said she loads up on healthy fats, including “fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing.”

Her comfort food of choice, meanwhile, is a slice of plain whole-grain toast with salt.

“I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking,” she told the outlet.

Victoria’s approach has many similarities to the Mediterranean diet, a popular eating style inspired by traditional cuisines in places such as southern Italy, Greece and Spain.

The menu focuses on vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fish and healthy fats, while red meat and added sugars feature less frequently.

Research has linked the Mediterranean diet to a wide range of health benefits, including a lower risk of heart disease, better cholesterol levels and improved blood pressure.

Studies also suggest it may help reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes and certain cancers, while potentially supporting healthy weight management and brain health as we age.

Victoria previously told Net-A-Porter that her diet used to also include plenty of fruit, but she had to cut back because “it can make me feel quite bloated.”

“My treat is a few glasses of red wine,” she said.

Red wine has traditionally featured in Mediterranean dining culture, often enjoyed in moderation with meals.

But it’s not her only tipple. “I also love tequila,” the pop legend added.

In the morning, Victoria said she’s just as disciplined with her diet.

“The first thing I do is have three tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, followed by a mug of hot water and lemon and multiple coffees,” she told Net-A-Porter.

This daily ritual may come with a few health perks of its own. Research suggests apple cider vinegar can help lower blood sugar and support weight loss by reducing appetite.

Lemon water, meanwhile, offers a simple way to stay hydrated and get a dose of vitamin C. The citrus drink may also help prevent certain types of kidney stones, thanks to compounds that can increase citrate levels in urine.

And Beckham’s multiple cups of coffee may do more than help her feel alert.

Studies have linked moderate coffee consumption to benefits for liver and metabolic health, as well as a lower risk of certain chronic diseases.

Looking back on their marriage, David told “River Cafe Table 4” host Ruth Rogers that he could recall only one time Victoria strayed from her diet: during her pregnancy with their 15-year-old daughter, Harper.

“It was one of my favorite evenings,” he joked. “I can’t remember what it was, but I know she’s not eaten it since!”
