Valkyries suffocate Dream to set up massive Game 5 WNBA Finals showdown
The Valkyries defeated the Dream 67-62 to tie up the WNBA Finals at two games a piece.
The Game 4 victory was huge for Golden State after losing back-to-back games to Atlanta. Head coach Natalie Nakase switched up the Valkyries’ starting lineup, which paid off as the team led by 16 points at halftime.
The Dream didn’t give up so easy, though, shrinking the deficit with a strong fourth quarter performance.
Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and two steals. Center Kiah Stokes also posted 16 rebounds and three blocks, a WNBA Finals record.
Angel Reese finished Game 4 with eight points, nine boards while shooting 2-for-12 from the field. Ultimately, Golden State shut down the Dream with stellar defense.
The Valkyries forced 17 Atlanta turnovers, which is the most-ever by the Dream in the 2026 playoffs. The second-year franchise also held Atlanta to 18-for-54 on shooting.
Moreover, the Dream missed nine free throws in a five-point loss.
Now, the series is tied 2-2 with the Finals returning to Ballhalla. The Valkyries have existed for only two seasons, but have managed to sell out every regular season home game since its inception.
The postseason atmosphere at the Chase Center has been electric, which should play to Golden State’s advantage in Game 5.
