J.J. McCarthy’s wife gushes over QB after winning his first Giants start: ‘God, I love you’
Sunday was a good day in the McCarthy household.
Following the Giants’ 27-21 overtime win over the Texans in what was J.J. McCarthy’s first start for Big Blue, the quarterback’s wife quickly took to Instagram to share her excitement.
“God, I love you❤️🔥So deserving,” Katya McCarthy wrote on her story with a reel from the NFL that shows McCarthy throwing his hands up in celebration after Devin Singletary’s game-winning touchdown.
The Giants sideline rushed the field, and coaches and teammates, including safety Tyler Nubin, joined McCarthy, patting him on the helmet for his first win as a starter for New York.
Just a month ago, the 23-year-old was traded to the Giants from the Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
The move came after Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery for a meniscus tear, MCL tear and PCL damage, and the Giants looked outside of backup Jameis Winston for help.
On Sunday, McCarthy kept the Giants at the top of a weak NFC East by throwing 252 yards as four different players scored rushing touchdowns.
Katya later shared a video of the Giants’ running back room — Tyrone Tracy, Cam Skattebo and Singletary — celebrating the victory together in front of the cameras. She added three clapping emojis to the post.
McCarthy has been looking for an opening to prove himself after a rough rookie season with the Vikings.
The Michigan product threw for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Now he has a chance to keep the Giants rolling, especially against the divisional rival Eagles (2-4) next week in Philadelphia.
Katya has been by McCarthy’s side since high school at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Ill.
The two married in April in San José del Cabo, Mexico, just months after having their first child, son Rome Micah, in September 2025.
