Chargers get a week off from losing — but not from being the NFL’s worst

Another week, another bad break for the Los Angeles Chargers.

While the Chargers have been at home enjoying the bye during Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season, they continue to find themselves hitting a new low.

With the Miami Dolphins earning their first win of the season in a 28-25 victory against the New York Jets, the Chargers are now the only winless team in the NFL. And they could still have a long way to go before they get their first win.

The journey hasn’t been easy for Los Angeles. They opened their season losing games they were favored to win against the Cardinals and Raiders.

After a shocking loss to Las Vegas, the Chargers tacked on another four losses by playing a gauntlet in the NFL that includes the Bills, Seahawks, Broncos, and Chiefs, while still having to face the Rams, Texans, and Ravens over the next three weeks.

Realistically, Los Angeles’ best bet to finally win a game this season will be the same as Miami’s when they host the New York Jets on November 11.

Coming into the season, the Chargers offense was expected to be one of the best in the NFL, with the team hiring Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator.

Instead, the Los Angeles offense has struggled.

In McDaniel’s West Coast-style offense, which requires quarterback Justin Herbert to release the ball quickly and be decisive with the ball, he’s been the opposite of that, with the worst QBR in the league (30.1), while having more interceptions (8) than touchdown passes (5).

The running game has been about average when compared to the rest of the league, averaging 119 yards per game.

On the opposite side of the ball, the defense ranks nearly below average, giving up an average of 330 yards and 25.2 points per game.

With the Chargers set to face the Rams next week, another loss could force them to consider waiving the white flag and start moving off key veterans as the NFL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching on November 10.
