Cowboys vs. Eagles | Monday, October 26, 2026 at 8:15 ET | Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA | ESPN
The Eagles will play this game without Jalen Hurts, so they are already at a disadvantage. The Cowboys are known for throwing the ball repeatedly, but they will need to establish the ground game in hopes of getting a few more passing lanes open. Let’s take a look at the running games and opposing defenses for tonight’s game.
The Cowboys are not a running team. They have asked Prescott to throw the ball 246 times this season, compared to the team running the ball just 122 times, and 14 of those have come from Prescott. Javonte Williams is the primary back, and he does get a lot of goal-line work with seven touchdowns this season, but he isn’t a guy who will get a ton of yards at a time for the team. The Eagles are a fairly average running defense, so Dallas could have a chance to get the ground game going.
The Eagles are a running team. They don’t really want to throw the ball, but perhaps with Hurts out, they will challenge that idea. Philadelphia has thrown the ball 200 times this season, and they’ve run it 134 times, but that has more to do with them playing from behind than anything. Saquon Barkley is one of the best running backs in the league, but he has played in just four games and had only 36 carries this year.
The Eagles have only scored four rushing touchdowns this season, but Dallas has one of the worst rushing defenses in football. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the two teams look to establish themselves in the ground game.
