New York’s 2026 governor race: Letters to the Editor — Oct. 27, 2026

The Issue: Nassau Exec Bruce Blakeman’s challenge to Gov. Hochul in New York’s 2026 gubernatorial race.

My prayer for New Yorkers is that they can look past their partisan leanings and simply vote for the best governor (“A needed Blake from Kat’s mess,” Michael Goodwin, Oct. 25).

New York is true-blue state, but if enough residents can’t vote for change in the form of Bruce Blakeman, then my capacity for any pity will be replaced by the cold reality that “people deserve exactly what they voted for.”

Now 81, I’ve been a registered Democrat since I was able to vote. However, I find myself agreeing with everything Saritha Komatireddy and Bruce Blakeman have said about how they would run New York.

Their solutions are both fair and feasible. I have such confidence in their capability of solving whatever problems come up. So I am going to vote for them, and hope my prayers come true.

I don’t understand how people can vote for Kathy Hochul.

Everyone complains about affordability and crime. Of course, she likes to blame President Trump, but the fact remains that she is the governor of New York.

She can’t even get the public to pay their bus and subway fares. But she did build a billionaire’s new football stadium as soon as she became governor.

How can anyone trust her to run the state?

I was happy to see The Post come out early to endorse Blakeman for governor. Goodwin points out all that is wrong with New York under Hochul.

Blakeman needs to keep repeating Ronald Reagan’s question: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” Sadly, many people can’t answer that question honestly, instead blindly following their political beliefs.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Wake up, New York!

Not one resident in upstate Elmira should vote for Hochul (“Penn Frack Boom Is NY’s Bust,” Oct. 23).

Because of her desperation to secure the Green Party’s votes, she won’t allow fracking, and this once-prosperous town is being smothered by unemployment and crime.

All New Yorkers can thank former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for “gifting” Hochul to us.

The Issue: Two ex-FBI officials charged with allegedly lying about their roles in the Hunter Biden laptop probe.

Surprise, surprise! FBI agents covered up the Hunter Biden laptop scandal as Russian misinformation (“Agents Turned A Blind FB-Eye,” Oct. 24).

I’m relatively certain the two agents named in the coverup weren’t acting alone and making decisions without orders from the top. I wonder who that could be. Does the name James Comey ring a bell?

Bill Lewis

Danbury, Conn.

It’s about time those who were responsible for investigating the laptop are held accountable.

The American public deserves better. It doesn’t matter what political party it is; a crime is a crime.

Now it’s time to expose the mainstream media for their complicity in the coverup.

The recent news of retired FBI Agents Floris and Benavides being charged with lying to Congress shouldn’t surprise anyone.

The sad part is, the former senior officials who orchestrated the entire cover-up on behalf of the Democrats and Joe Biden used Floris and Benavides as pawns and won’t be held accountable.
