It’s not yet time to panic. 

We are just 3.66 percent of the way through the regular season. That would be the equivalent of just after halftime of the first game of an NFL regular season. It’s far too soon to make declarative statements. 

But the Knicks are the first defending champions since the 2011-12 Mavericks to start 0-3. A loss Tuesday to the Pistons would make them the first defending champions since the 1969-70 Celtics to start 0-4. 

After a summer spent talking about avoiding complacency and wanting to turn the page, the Knicks have not exactly picked up where they left off at a championship level.
