Protesters descend on California jail as federal agents make arrests
ICE agents launched a targeted operation at a California jail Tuesday, drawing protesters that demanded federal officers clear out as the facility went into lockdown.
A person identifying themself as an ICE operative told KSBW that agents were conducting a targeted operation involving people at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas.
Officials did not disclose who was being targeted or whether arrests were made.

Outside, a small crowd gathered to shout at the agents, with some protesters unleashing profanities as the immigration operation unfolded, the outlet reported.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office later locked down the facility, suspending new bookings and inmate releases while shutting the doors to public visitors. Attorneys meeting with clients were still allowed inside.
