Julia Stiles dubs ‘DWTS’ partner Ezra Sosa a ‘cranky bitch’ after heated rehearsal
One thing she hates about him.
Julia Stiles playfully dubbed her “Dancing With the Stars” partner, Ezra Sosa, a “cranky bitch” after a heated rehearsal session.
As the pair prepared for Tuesday’s “Horror Movie Night,” during which they performed an Argentine tango to “The Dogs Attack” from the 1976 horror classic “The Omen,” tensions rose.
Sosa, who admitted he was going extra hard on the actress because her competitors Jenna Dewan and Amber Glenn were also doing the dance style, advised Stiles to “be prepared.”
Once they began practicing the routine, the 45-year-old became visibly overwhelmed by Sosa’s comments and critiques about “no heel leads” and more.
“I just don’t respond well to frustration,” Stiles told Sosa. “What gets the best work out of me is to not be like, ‘You’re doing it wrong! You’re just doing this, and you’re just doing that!’”
In his confessional, Sosa, 25, acknowledged that he was “being too hard” on Stiles.
However, he explained, “I want to push her because I know her excellence. I know what she can bring to the table. And I just don’t want her to be disappointed when we perform this routine.”
The choreographer ultimately apologized to Stiles in the rehearsal space, confessing he had been “pushing too far.”
Stiles insisted he did not need to say sorry, saying, “It’s not your job to protect my ego or babysit me. I can handle it.”
Deciding she needed “to be a big girl and do what coach tells me, she continued, “I love you. You don’t have to apologize. I think you need to get more sleep, because you’re a cranky bitch when you’re tired.”
Sosa agreed, “I’m just tired.”
After performing in front of the judges, the dancing duo earned a 26/40, which Derek Hough called a “low” in the “10 Things I Hate About You” star’s journey on Season 35 of the competition series.
Despite their tough week, Stiles and Sosa survived the double elimination, which saw Tyler Cameron and Jackson Olson sent home alongside pros Sharna Burgess and Emma Slater.
New episodes of “DWTS” air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC and Disney+, and stream on Hulu the following day.
